Melissa Hanson


Melissa has been the director of the Center since July 2009. Before she arrived in New Hope, Melissa was a lead preschool teacher and co-director at Roots to Wings Learning Center in St. Johns, Lake City from 2006-2009. She also has several years of experience working as an aide at an early childhood center in Muskego, WI and as a preschool Sunday school instructor. Melissa graduated from Martin Luther College with her Bachelor’s in Education. She enjoys spending time with her two children, Carter and Morgan. Melissa loves the trust and comfort levels the children build with the staff. She also loves watching them grow from little infants to big preschoolers! It’s neat to see them transition throughout the entire Center!


KArlie Habermann

Assistant Director/Preschool Teacher

Karlie recently graduated from Martin Luther College with her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She comes from Manitowoc, Wisconsin and enjoys playing volleyball and basketball. She got married in June 2017 to Paul who teaches 7th-8th grade at Holy Trinity. Karlie enjoys teaching because she loves watching how fast the children grow and develop!


Michele Shogren

Infant Teacher

Michele has been working at Holy Trinity since 2012. She started in our infant room as an assistant teacher and has worked her way up to lead! She has worked in child care settings since 1998 and has worked through college and gained the education and experience to be qualified as a lead teacher. She has attended North Hennepin Community College as well as obtained her Child Development Certificate from Ashworth College. Michele loves working at Holy Trinity because she loves seeing the babies learn and grow. She loves helping them reach important milestones and encouraging them every day!


Sara Dobberstein

Toddler Teacher

Sara is a graduate of Martin Luther College with a major of Early Childhood Education. She married her high school sweetheart, Caleb, in May of 2018. Sara is thrilled be serving Holy Trinity Academy as a toddler room teacher. She is passionate about working with toddlers and helping them grow and learn. In her free time, Sara enjoys drawing, playing tennis, and embroidering.


Kirsten George

Preschool Teacher

Kirsten graduated from Martin Luther College in 2015 with her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education degree. After graduation she moved to St. Lucia (an island in the Caribbean), where she taught at an international school. While she was there, she met her husband and they got married in June of 2017. In July 2018, they moved to the United States. Since then Kirsten has worked in preschool and loves getting to know the children. She enjoys teaching Bible and watching the children grow in their love for God and each other.
